Words (tune of ‘comin’ round the mountain’):

There are lots of stars bouncing on the cloth x 2
There are lots of stars bouncing, lots of stars bouncing, lots of stars bouncing on the cloth
Singing aye aye yippee yippee aye x 2
Singing aye aye yippee, aye aye yippee, aye aye yippee yippee aye
Then count as you all bounce the lycra and see what number you get to when every star has bounced off

Context:

Working with a group of children with a piece of lycra offers opportunity for:

  • communication
  • turn-taking
  • sharing
  • physical development
  • shared focus and attention which supports speech andĀ languageĀ development

Ideally work with a smaller group and make sure there are a couple of adults.

We sang this song with a group in Bluebells room this week in Battle Hill nursery. The staff had cut out silver stars and moons, so we sat in a circle holding onto the lycra and bounced them on the cloth together. We then had some fun bouncing and counting how many bounces it took until every last star had bounced right off the cloth!
